Shot in the Studio?

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Below is the same Tulip, shot out on the Pearl Street Mall, but using two different backdrops. It’s very handy bringing along a black drop clothe on these shoots! But I think I found the perfect backdrop for the all natural first image. I can’t decide which background I like better. The first image’s natural [...]

Hanging Lake

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Since it’s coming up on June sooner than you might think, it’s time to start planning day trips and day hikes into the Rockies. One of my favorite little trips is to Glenwood Springs and hiking to Hanging Lake. The image below was shot last June when my family spent a long Father’s Day weekend [...]

Tulip and White

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Another image from last Saturday’s Tulip shoot. REMINDER: I’ll be leading the Denver Photowalk Group (about 20 photographers have RSVP’d) on the same photowalk this coming Saturday. We’re meeting at 7am on the corner of 15th and Pearl. Anyone is welcome to join us!

Tulips in Rich Spring Colors

Monday, April 27th, 2009

One more from the Tulips photowalk this past Saturday. I love the colors, saturation and softness behind the main tulip in this image. The dew drops just add to the whole scene. Tired of these yet? I have many many more. Plus I have another photowalk this coming Saturday to shoot the same Tulips with [...]

Bold Colors

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Here’s another favorite from yesterday’s photowalk on Pearl Street Mall. I was trying to work a little surrealism into the imagery instead of the usual straight-on tulip shots–a lot of subtlety and blurriness surrounding the main point of focus. What do you think about these two images? Please comment and give me feedback.

Tulips on Pearl Street

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

The Tulips are looking really good today. Took the Louisville Art Association out to shoot the Tulips on Pearl Street Mall this morning. Weather wasn’t cooperating for most shooters, but the clouds and drizzle presented an excellent photo op for the die hards. Here’s one of many, many keepers I captured this morning. Wish you [...]

Day After March Blizzard

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

It was beautiful, but shall we say… breezy, day after the March Blizzard. We drove up to Red Feather Lakes to spend a quiet weekend away. I decided to go exploring from the house and wound up at the roads-end with this view…. Brrr….

Pawnee Buttes National Grasslands

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Pawnee Buttes and National Grasslands Shoot I took off very early this morning on what was to be a scouting trip to the Pawnee Buttes and the Grasslands that surround them, up in north central Colorado. I did a little research Saturday night and uncovered a Visitors Guide PDF as well as a detailed map [...]

Another Fall Colors 2008 Image

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Another image from my trip out to the Twin Lakes area, only this image was taken by my iPhone. Not too shabby!

Fantastic Fall Colors 2008 Outing

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Just spent this past Saturday up in the Twin Lakes area, photographing the spectacular Colorado fall colors with three other photographers. And we hit the peak of the tree’s color changes. Awesome scenery, vivid colors and beautiful weather came together into one excursion. Perfect! Below are a couple of images from this trip. More tk. [...]
