Walk in the Park

Here’s a photo taken very near to my house last week during the bitter cold spell here in Colorado. I was out shooting a favorite tree in the fog and came across this pathway leading up and over a rise in the park-like settings. Converted it to B&W and it almost looks infrared since the snow on the trees stays white in the conversion.

San Francisco, Redwoods and the Golden Gate Bridge

On a recent business trip out to California, I went out a few days early to spend some time with a couple of co-worker and photography friends Damond and George. We started the day up in the Muir Redwoods National Monument north of the City and got a lot of shots of the redwoods, something I’ve always want to do, yet a subject that’s really hard to compose around since they are such large objects.

I think this top image where you’re looking up into the canopy formed by these massive trees kind of did them justice.

We then left the Redwoods and ventured onward to the Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and to the Point Bonita Lighthouse (after a short side trip to the top of Mt. Tamalpais) for some sunset shots of the Golden Gate and the City where I was suddenly lost in my shooting. (Ever have those times?) Here are some of those images…

Finishing up a 10-hour day of very rewarding photography, I can say for myself, I was pretty exhausted. And stopping for a beer back at George’s house in Benecia was just what the Doctor ordered. I don’t think my colleagues quite knew what they were getting themselves into when they said they wanted to go shooting with me either. “Just one more shot!” ;)

Cherry Blossoms

Spent some time in our yard photographing the blossoming trees we currently have. Here’s an image from our Cherry Tree. I must have waited 30 minutes for a bee to land within my composition!
