One Snowy Drive in to Work

When it snowed last week, I decided to make it a leisurely drive in to the office and took along my camera. There have been several barns I’ve wanted to capture and with a dusting of snow, what better time to see what I could do.

Perhaps you remember this first barn just about a mile north of my house. I’ve posted images of it in the past, but those were when the barn was barely visible through the fog that results from the nearby Boulder Creek stream-bed:

The next stop was about a mile north and west where there are these two other barns.

The first one is someone’s backyard “shed”. I have envisioned something like this image every time I pass by it:

The second one is about 200 yards further west and north across the street. I have to admit, I got a good laugh at myself (as several passers-by did too) as in my eagerness to get the right composition for this shot, I stepped around and quickly found myself flat on my bum in the drainage ditch! Camera and ego are fine, but it was a quick reminder on how slippery snow-covered grassy areas are!

The finally, the Bus Stop and the Flag Barn in Niwot were a must this snowy morning, given the conditions, lighting and rising steam/fog flowing over the landscape:

Then later on my drive home, I remembered it was going to be a full moon, so I stopped at one of my favorite little nearby farms and captured this image:

All on a snowy day’s drive in to the office last week. Not a bad haul for a brief period of shooting to and from work.

Tell me what you think…
